Strategic: Technology serves as the basis for competitive advantage; it is required to win, is what makes a business different from competitors.

Core: Technology capability impacts customer choice but is not a defensible source of advantage.

Foundational: Represent table stakes technology, i.e., are not distinctive nor does it impact customer choice (when delivered correctly), but is required in order to be a viable competitor.
